1 Corinthians 15:35 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”

1. The Last Second

21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. 47 The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. 2. Metamorphosis

a. The Transformation of the spirit

Romans 8:15-16 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. … 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

b. Transformation of the mind

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

c. Transformation of the body

Phil 3:21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Incompatible with heaven

50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Incompatible with the presence of God.

2 Thess 2:8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.

3. Features

49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.

42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.

4. The Transition

51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—

52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

4.1 Rapture

4.2 Death

54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

55“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
